Crop marks don't show in PDF
I'm trying to print a file to my "pdf printer" with crop marks. The original
page size is 11 x 17. I have checked crop marks, selected adobe as the printer, selected press quality, and created a custom page size of 12 x 18. The file prints to the pdf fine, at the proper size, but no crop marks are found. Any ideas? Using publisher 2003 |

Well, the file is quite large (over 30 mb) and is a company file so I can't
really send it to you. However, I have the same problem if I just take one of the "templates" from publisher for a 4 fold Brochure and print it to Adobe with the settings I listed above. I don't think it is file specific, it must be something with publisher or with adobe. I want to say it's an issue with publisher because the text and graphics are converting just fine, I get the impression that publisher just isn't adding the marks before it prints. Since I cannot reproduce, I believe it is NOT a Publisher issue, but possibly your Adobe settings. For what it's worth, you absolutely need 1 inch + room on each side in order for the crop marks to appear. If it is under an inch, Publisher will not send crop mark information over. -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Publisher MVP http://www.publishermvps.com ~pay it forward~ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |

Brian,
Wait, why can't you reproduce it, if what you wrote is right? :-) He has an 11x17 page that he wants crop marks on. Therefore, he would need 13x19 inch printer pages (which I think is normal - a few years ago I had a printer that would do full 11x17 inch bleeds and I think it used 13x19 inch paper!), if Pub requires an inch on each side. I guess if you want to get technical. I "could" reproduce it by giving less than an inch margin 11x17 works fine with crop marks on 12x18. -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Publisher MVP http://www.publishermvps.com ~pay it forward~ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |
