Default How to save absolute links in hyperlink field?

I read in many places that it's possible to save absolute hyperlinks in a
field whose type is hyperlink, but no one tells me how to do it.

Can someone guide me?

Thank you!

Click in the Address line of your browser and highlight what looks like this --
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...&lang=en&cr=US

Then press CNTRL and the letter "C" at the same time. Click in your
hyperlink field and press CNTRL and the letter "V" at the same time.

Thanks, Karl!
That works well for external hyperlinks. Unfortunately, I can't figure
out how to use this technique for our more common hyperlinks to files on our
server. they always come up with relative hyperlinks.
Any ideas?
