Default reset background on cover slide

I reset the background on my cover slide (first slide of the powerpoint deck)
and now can't can't it back.
I also tried to cut and paste the same cover from a previous version of my
presentation but it also comes up blank ie. no background. How do I get this
cover slide back?

How did you reset it?

If you go to Format | Slide Layout and choose the title slide layout, does
that fix it?
