Default EFFECT OPTION UNDER DESIGN RIBBON

This is going to sound really dumb, but I cannot figure out what the "effect"
option does on the design ribbon in powerpoint 07. My teacher does not know,
and it is not in my text book. I tried playing with it with text and
graphics and just cannot figure it out. Can anyone help with some advice on
how to utilize this tool?

Default EFFECT OPTION UNDER DESIGN RIBBON

The Effects Scheme that you choose on the Design tab controls the effects
that are applied automatically to the various options in the Shape Styles
gallery on the Drawing Tools Format tab, on the Chart styles gallery, and on
the Table styles gallery.

To see how these affect things, draw a rectangle on your slide. Then go to
Drawing Tools Format and choose an option from the last row of the Shape
Styles gallery.

Now go back to the Design tab and change the Effects Scheme. If you change
to, say, Apex, you'll see the gradient fill change to a diagonal one and the
shadow become more extreme than the one used in the default Effects Scheme
(which is called "Office").
