Default Field Name with Special Characters

Hello,

I understand that special characters should not be used in table field names
and I don't use them when creating tables in my databases. However, when I
want to link to an Excel spreadsheet that another department is using to
enter their data, sometimes they use a forward slash, ampersand, or other
special character in the header name. Could this still cause a problem even
though it is a linked Excel file? I have successfully tested quering a table,
albeit a two-field table with three records, containing special characters in
the field name.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Regards,

Paul

Try to link to the spreadsheet and see if ACCESS handles it ok.

When importing spreadsheets into tables, ACCESS often replaces "bad,
special" characters with underscores, so if your linking doesn't work, you
could try importing the data.
