"bumps" in intersecting lines?

When I have one line itersect another as they go across the drawing, the lower line automatically shows a "bump". How do I get it to stop doing that?
And what is the definition of a line jump?

In Visio help, look up "line jump" and read the section on "Set line jump
style for connectors."

Basically, the bumps are supposed to suggest that the lines aren't
connected at the place where they intersect. With electrical wiring, for
example, this is important to know.

To stop a line from showing a bump, select it and use:
Format Behavior Connector Line jumps
and change the "Add" setting to "Never".

Interesting. When I was studying electrical/electronic drawing we were
told that the 'bump" was no longer standard representation, as it was
unnecessary and archaic.

And that was over 40 years ago.

But then, Americans still use those archaic inch thingies.

Typically you would use the "gap" line jump style for an electrical drawing.
We may not have the defaults set properly for some of these drawing types.

I'm working on a similar problem with Mark Nelson so when I saw this post I
thought I'd drag you into the fray. I have a diagram where the line jumps
are not working. If I start a new diagram I can slam two dynamic connectors
onto it and the line jumps work fine. I've tried everything I can think of.
Is there some "Tools...Options" setting or something that can be locking this
feature out? There must be some reason why this is working in one diagram
but not another even though they appear to be configured the same way. Any
ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I have just downloaded a 30-day trial of Visio 2003 and cannot get the line
jumps function to work. I have tried :- File Page setup Layout and
routing Line jumps ---- but still no joy.

Any Ideas?
