Default Disable Track Changes problem

I am working in MS Word 2002. I need to turn off the
Track Changes, but Word won't allow me to do so. The TRK
is black (enabled) on the status bar, but the Track
Changes icon on the Reviewing bar and the "Track Changes"
on the Tools menu are gray. Word is seeing them as being
disabled. Because of this, I cannot turn off the Track
Changes - I can't access the Track Changes menu/window to
do so.

The documents were made in an earlier version of Word and
then transferred to a different computer. That is when
this problem happened. These documents contain many
graphics, and the Track Changes is causing all sorts of
problems.

I appreciate any help or ideas anyone can offer.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

If you export to a web page (HTML), close the *.htm file,
then re-open it, are you able to change the Track Changes
setting now? If yes, then just save again in *.doc format
and you should be all set.
