Office Pro Access 2003

Every time I open Access in Office Professional 2003 a screen says: Security
Warning - Opening "C:/Documents and Settings/(name)/My
Documents/(filename.mdb) - This file may not be safe if it contains code that
was intended to harm your computer - Do you want to open this ile or cancel
the operation? - buttons for Cancel / Open / More Info.

To try to solve I've looked at:

and some other info from Microsoft:
*Your computer does not have Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 (SP8) or later
installed, or
*Your computer does have Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 installed, but you did not
choose to block unsafe expressions when prompted to do so and, as a result,
sandbox mode has not yet been enabled on your computer."

Can some one help me with this? How will I tell whether Jet 4.0 SP8 is
installed, then what to do from there.

you can set the macro security to low to hide this message.
Open the database, on the menu at top of screen, go
Tools | Macro | Security | Low

Thank you Jeanette. In Access, Tools | Macro | Security was Medium not Low.

Now this inquiry. Low is not recommended, pursuant to the window verbiage.
We'd like to think that Microsoft used Medium for a good reason. We have
been selecting the Open button to abort the Security Warning screen when we
knew the database we were opening was our own and therefore we assumed a
minimal risk. Do you have an opinion whether continuing to select Open is
"safer" than changing Medium to Low? Do you view it as six of one and half a
dozen of the other?

When I am going to open a database, I always know where it comes from.
Any database samples that can be downloaded from websites maintained by
access mvp's I always assume are safe.
The same applies to the access templates on microsoft.com and database
samples that are included with books. This is how I can safely use the low
macro security.

Your advice and counsel is golden, Jeanette, thank you so much! If concerned
with unknowns, leaving Medium and using the Open button may be way to go.
Otherwise, with knowledge of who sent the database and where it originated,
Low without the button should be fine.

I spent many years with dBase and am trying to build the same skill and
confidence level with Access. Maybe one day I won't be a beginner!
