Default porting over to new machine

I just built a new machine and need to know how to bring over my contacts
from Outlook 2003 from the old machine to the new one?

Simplest approach would be as follows (assuming that you have not created
additional PST files and that you are going from O'2K3 to O'2K3 - if your
destination machine is an earlier version of Outlook - this won't work if
the original PST file was created in the O'2K3 format):

#1 - Find the location of your current PST file (right click on it --
properties -- Advanced)
#2 - Close Outlook - copy this file to whereever
#3 - Install Outlook on your new machine as normal creating whatever email
accounts you need
#4 - Copy the PST file from step #2 to the new machine (if you copied this
to a CD/DVD - make sure you you reset the file attributes to clear the "Read
Only setting"
#5 - Open this PST file and change your profile to make it the default
destination for new email - this makes everything inside it the default
#6 - Close the PST file that Outlook created initially on the new install -
you don't need it

The above will copy only your folder info but does NOT include any settings
such as filters, categories etc.

If you have created additional PST files - copy and open them on the new
machine as outlined above.
Your done.

Karl
