Default Insert colums in Excel

Can someone tell me how to get more colums in a spreadsheet. The colums only go up to IV and I need more than that.

I tried going to insert column, but nothing happens. HELP!

Hi
this is Excel's maximum (256 columns) no chance to get around this
limit. So you either split your data on several worksheets or change
the layout of your spreadsheet (or use a different application)

Does this also apply to Excel 2007 (limited numbers of columns)?

Yes, Excel 2007 has a limited number of columns, but no, it is not 256.
Excel 2007 has 16384 columns and 1048576 rows.
