Where do I get an introductory access course
I'm tasked with setting up a database using access. I'm not familiar with the
software. Where can I get free on-line tuition on the software? |

Run by Barnes and Noble and pick up a copy of Database Design for Mere
Mortals by Michael J. Hernandez for starters. -- Lynn Trapp MS Access MVP www.ltcomputerdesigns.com Access Security: www.ltcomputerdesigns.com/Security.htm "tsholo123" wrote in message ... Most versions of Access (except 2000 and 2002!) have a decent (not fantastic, but decent) instructional manual included with the software. OLH won't get you building Rome (or databases) in a day, but it can ground you in the basics. Open Access, click on the Help toolbar command, select the "Contents" tab, and start with the very first topic in the Introduction chapter, "Databases: What they are and how they work." My recommendation for a hard-copy reference would be "Running Microsoft Access xx" by John Viescas. Simple, clear, minimum jargon, and very thorough. I always keep my copy ready-to-hand. Here are some links to web sites about using Microsoft Access and developing relational databases: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;289533 http://www.microsoft.com/education/AccessTutorial.aspx There are tons more out there, but this should start the ball rolling. Good luck, LeAnne |

Try Google using: microsoft access tutorials
You'll get hundreds of hits. However, I agree with Lynn. The *most important* thing you can learn is good database design principles. The Hernandez book is a great beginning. On my website I have a few tutorials that build off of this book. You can find them he http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/Tutorials.html -- --Roger Carlson Access Database Samples: www.rogersaccesslibrary.com Want answers to your Access questions in your Email? I'll have to do some more in depth reading of it later, but that's nice to know about. -- Lynn Trapp MS Access MVP www.ltcomputerdesigns.com Access Security: www.ltcomputerdesigns.com/Security.htm |
