Default autotext entry containing table comes in with text in number format

I have an autotext entry that contains a table. Each cell of the table has a
specific (non-numbered) style attached to it (cleared formatting several
times, reapplied styles, etc.). Everything looks great. I save the text
containing the table as an autotext entry. When I insert the autotext entry
into a document, all of the cells of the table are numbered.

Example of what it *should* look like (note, this is a simple example
showing four rows and one column - actual table is more complex)

Example of what it comes in looking like...

4) - (Print name and title)

where - is a tab character

Help! Where on earth is the numbering coming from?

Brenda

Hi Newt,

Hmmmm, there are a number of possibilities.

1. Do these styles with which the table is formatted exist in document into
which you're inserting the table?

2. Word 2002/2003 use "table styles" for the basic table formatting. I usually
wouldn't expect numbering to be associated, but... If you insert a new table
into a document, is it numbered?

3. When you insert the AutoText, is any immediately adjacent paragraph
numbered? If it is, that's probably what's causing the problem
- select the table
- Ctrl+Q, Ctrl+Spacebar

1. Yes, they exist... can save to autotext and insert into same document and
it was there
2. nope, not numbered
3. no, no numbered paragraph nearby

Actually, however, I was able to solve it by using the new Format -- Reveal
Formatting. I was able to delete the numbering - I saved it again and it is
now fine. This was an existing autotext in Word 2000. I have had similar
problems with existing autotext - coming into 2003 centered instead of left
justified. That one is fixed by simply correctly and recreating the
autotext.

Very odd.

Thanks for the response.

Reference question 1: Try writing something in one of the styles used in
your table in a new document. Is that style numbered?
