Word 2000 - make link in doc to another place in same doc

I want to list topics as headings in my document, and link them to the places
where that topic is discussed - later in the document. I've tried but don't
understand what they are saying about bookmarking exactly, and I guess it
would not be considered a hyperlink.

It is a hyperlink--it's just an internal hyperlink to an anchor within the
document.

Manually, you could use Insert | Hyperlink, Document, Locate Anchor--but for
your headings to show up as available anchors, it's easiest to use the
built-in Heading styles:

However, it might be easier to just create a Table of Contents?
