Default setup cannot find proofing.en-us\proof.en\

Trying to load my recently bought Office Home and Stedent 2007. I get less
than a 1/4 through when I get a pop up that states "Setup cannot find
proofing.en-us\proof.en\proof.cab. Browse to a valid information source.

I have searched through the internet, and while I have seen numerous issues
the same as mine, I have found no resolution.

Please help.

I had this same problem. Like you, I discovered lots of info about it
online, but no real solution.

I ended up searching my computer for "proofing.en-us" and then pointing
the installer to that location.

I wrote up more detailed instructions he 'Solution: “Cannot
find Proofing.en-us” error when Installing Office 2007 |
RyanTAdams.com' (http://tinyurl.com/6pg62r)

I struggled to try and get this to work and the one post that says to search didn't seem to work. I had successfully downloaded Office 2007 to my laptop, but had problems getting it on my desktop. Since they were both on my NETWORK, I was able to use the file from my LAPTOP to get it to work. When the search box comes up go to the file on your laptop and it will work. I could not get it to work any other way. You can also do this if you have other computers on a network. Do a search for "proof.msi" on the computer that OFFICE 2007 is working and once the error message comes up, go through the network to the file that the error message is showing you are missing. I don't know why this did it, but it was very frustrating. As long as you have computers on a NETWORK and one computer has the successfully installed program, you should get it to work.

Default Proofing.en-us

I had to restore Vista on a Gateway PC.
Afterwards I was re-installing Microsoft Office Plus 2007 and encountered the same problem of "Proofing.en-us" not found. I would search for it and could locate on the installation CD. When I would cut/paste the folder path and submit I would receive "Invalid Path".

Fix:
I checked the CD (It had a slight gash on the very edge).
I cleaned the CD.
Inserted it in a second CD drive on the same machine and start the install again.
Worked fine that time.

I plan on making a copy of the CD if possible.
I do not know if Microsoft will replace the CD (but I am going to ask).
Good Luck!
