Default Contacts list is empty in Address Book (Outlook 2000 SP3)

Yes it does in the Contacts Folder. But it does not show up in the Address
book under Contacts.

Just what it says. I have never seen a case where removing and reinstalling
the Outlook Address Book Service didn't correct this problem. There must be
more involved here than you've mentioned. For example, are you certain that
the Contacts in this folder all have valid, resolved electronic addresses?
If you create a new Contact with a valid resolved electronic address in this
folder will it appear?

I'd be most happy for you to tell me what I'm leaving out. I've been using
PC's since 1986, and I'm pretty frustrated that I can't figure this out.

As I said, I have no idea. Your situation is one of a kind. No one else has
a similar problem and you cannot provide the steps to reproduce yours.

PMJI, but here's an idea: Have you looked at the actual contacts in your Contacts folder to see if their email addresses are resolved, i.e. underlined in the contact record? Some imports do not result in resolved email addresses, and an email address that isn't resolved won't show up in the address book. You can also test this by identifying one of the addresses from the subfolder that shows up in the address book and copying it into your main Contacts folder. That should quickly tell you whether the Contacts folder itself is capable of showing a known resolved address.

That's what I had him try in my post #3. He claims the address still doesn't
show up in the Outlook Address Book. That's the part I find inexplicable.
