Default can't import address from access to outlook

Have you tried using a different view of that folder?

Something is wrong with the original contact folder. Somehow it is full with
displaying anything. When I open it there are are bunch of lines there as if
it is in the detailed address view but has no data. I am unable to copy
anything into it. It is like I need to reformat it in order to copy to it.
Thanks, Rose

No need to delete, just copy the imported items into it. If that goes OK, you can delete the import folder.

Success!!!! Thanks so much. Do I delete the other contact folder - is there
a trick to that? I can't tell you how many different ways I tried to import
- hours- I should have used this site a lot earlie.

Thanks Sue but I did do that. Most of the fields were already mapped and I

I am trying to import addresses from an access 2003 database into my contacts
in outlook 2003. The database is information I exported from outlook before
have to reinstall windows etc. I have followed all the directions and the
window says it is copying to contacts but there is nothing in my contacts
after the import. I have even tried it through excel with same thing
happening. I recently reinstalled office professional edition 2003 after
reinstalling windows xp. I had imported my contacts from my hand held Palm
and all was fine until my husband syncronized with his new treo and wiped out
the contacts and left only his phone numbers behind. Thanks for any help.

Hi Sue,
I am not sure where you want me to click to show message etc but I think the
original contacts folder is full and the deleted contacts(wherever that may
be) is also full. I tried to delete all the information and it says the
folder is full. The only folder I see with deleted information is the one
that holds the deleted emails. The contacts folder says it has 65,500 items
in it although I can't see anything. When I change views it is still blank
but the design is there. I can't seem to find anything relating to "show".
Thanks, Rose

That's undoubtedly the problem. It looks like you have hit the maximum number of items in a .pst file folder. You might want to see if Scanpst.exe can fix it -- see http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm

Yes, all views are blank except you can see that the formatting is there. If
I try deleting part of the contacts it tells me the folder is full. I am
confused as to why it says there are 65,000 items (only have 400 contacts).
I did try importing many times so I assume it has added up - still can't be
seen. Isn't there some way to delete this folder and start over? My new
folder imported just fine except it is not recognized by the address book.
Thanks, Rose

Default can't import address from access to outlook

my name is Stella and I, too, am trying to export or import whichever is the
correct term....take my access contacts and transfer them/drop them/copy
them...what ever is needed to get them into my Outlook format....my boss
wants to merge all 6,000 contacts from Access into Outlook for our Christmas
2007 mailing and I cannot make it work although I'm following the printed
directions....it states start with a b lank access page and then press
import....but I don't see import only export...not to mention this new Vista
program isn't very user friendly...I'm also hav ing problems getting labels
to merge, even using the wizard...it is all new and too Greek for little ol
me....can someone out there help me before the night before Christmas....I'll
keep searching for tutorials but I need someone from Microsoft help
desk...and you people out there to help me out!! my Christmas bonus depends
on it.....smiling and thanks, Clueless in Connecticut...Stella
