Default sorting contacts

How can I ensure that contacts are always presented Last name, First name? I have no problem displaying them like that in my Contacts folder, but when I want to create a distribution list, say, and I come to select members, those names are always First Name, Last Name. I can then click on Properties for a contact and sort it there, but that is such a hassle - I have hundreds of names.

What is the difference between Contacts and those address lists anyway?

I use Outlook 2000.

Thanks in advance

Steve

For a version that old, you will also need to provide your mail support
mode: line 2 of Help | About if you don't know.

Then specify where you want them sorted.
For the Address Book: Tools menu Address Book View menu Sort by
For a DL: you're out of luck. Can't be done without individually changing
the Subject field for each Contact.

My contact list has been set to be sorted by the company name, but when
I want to send a message "to" the list of contacts appears to be sorted
by name and/or family name. I am not able to have the contacts list
shown by company name sorting.

Thanks

The Outlook Address Book will only by company if you have configured the
"File As" field to include the company.
