Default Multiple windows

When opening files in Excel, it only opens a new file in
the existing window. I am not able to seperate the
windows. ie. I am not able to get more than one icon on
the task bar. (office 2000 on Win 2000sp4).

Is there an setting somewhere?

Cheers,
Mike

The main effect I want is to have seperate icons on the
start bar for each open window.

AFAIK Only way to get this done in 2000 is to open an entire new instance of
Excel -- which can cause a real drag on your resources

I believe this premiered in Excel 2002 (XP). If you are looking for a quick
way to go between files -- CTRL + TAB works quite well

Tools|options|View|Check Windows in taskbar
(or didn't that work)

Do you use shared workbooks?

If so, there's a bug in xl2k that's been fixed in xl2002 that played with that
setting.
