.vss contents help 4 U
While I can search for a stencil shape OK within Visio....I don't always know
what each stencil contains or what search word to use. I also know there is a tool to print each stencil content....but I found two good electronic/paperless solutions for me; so sharing with you all.... - if you hold cursor over the file name it will display a help bubble....get that info by opening the file in a text editor...also contains the "search" words used to find the shapes in that stencil....save file-name and this text in a file you can search (such as .xls or .mdb). Helps to find the file and also what search words to use. - if you have a desktop search/index engine such as Copernic, set it to search .vsd, .vss and .vst file 'contents' (not just file name)....so Copernic can search deeper and more quickly...and you can find a .vsd drawing via something in its text contents I can now find a wider variety of shapes faster and know what file has the shape. Also...download the MS Visio 2007 viewer and its SP1 updater and you can dbl click a .vss file and it will open for viewing without opening Visio (if you are looking and don't happen to have Visio open).
