Default Publisher very slow.....

I have tried to look through other posts and did what people suggested: turn
down acceleration and update video driver. I have Publisher 2002 SP3. Is
there any updates that can help me? The file has a small advertisment I made
that is 2x2.58 inches with 4 pictures that are all cropped and some text
boxes... It takes a long time to load and if I try to move something or
select something it takes what seems like a minute before I can work with it.
Any ideas???

Did you create this publication in an earlier version of Publisher? WordArt?
When You Add WordArt Objects Publisher 2002 Slows Down and Appears Unresponsive

The program stops responding when you try to open or to save a file in an Office
2002 program and in an Office 2003 program

First the more obvious stuff. Has Publisher *ever* run at a
reasonable speed on your computer?
Just asking in case you have a computer that is a bit low spec for
such a program.
Bear in mind that Microsoft tend to quote very (impractically IMO) low
specs when saying whether or not a program is suitable for a
particular computer.

Yes, Publisher has run at a reasonable speed, there is no Wordart in the
file, and Ihave always used Publisher 2002. It seems to act up with this
file only... could it be that I cropped a picture in to four seperate
pictures?

Hi, Wendy -

How big is the file? Compare its size to some of your other files.
....I've used some tiffs (and even some huge jpegs) and they really bog-down
the program.

Yea, the file is huge compared to others 18572 kb, but it is no different
than others...meaning content...weird. Is there something I can do to shrink
the size of the file? Would hiding the pictures help?

utter:

It sounds like you've got very high-resolution pictures in the file. That
means Publisher will take longer to redraw them, unless you turn View
Pictures to Hide Pictures or Fast Resize and Zoom.

No, it's just a display option.

Ok, so here is what I did... I deleted the four pictures in Publisher, then I
cropped the four pictures in another program and saved them as four
individual pictures. Then I put the four pictures back in my Publisher file
and now the size is only 1668kb. Publisher could not handle a big picture
file, copied four times and then cropped down to four pictures. Thanks for
all your help, I probably wouldn't of figured that out by myself.
