Publisher very slow.....
I have tried to look through other posts and did what people suggested: turn
down acceleration and update video driver. I have Publisher 2002 SP3. Is there any updates that can help me? The file has a small advertisment I made that is 2x2.58 inches with 4 pictures that are all cropped and some text boxes... It takes a long time to load and if I try to move something or select something it takes what seems like a minute before I can work with it. Any ideas??? |

Did you create this publication in an earlier version of Publisher? WordArt?
When You Add WordArt Objects Publisher 2002 Slows Down and Appears Unresponsive http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811060/en-us The program stops responding when you try to open or to save a file in an Office 2002 program and in an Office 2003 program http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313937/en-us -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Wendy" wrote in message news I have tried to look through other posts and did what people suggested: turn down acceleration and update video driver. Has Publisher *ever* run at a reasonable speed on your computer? Just asking in case you have a computer that is a bit low spec for such a program. Bear in mind that Microsoft tend to quote very (impractically IMO) low specs when saying whether or not a program is suitable for a particular computer. |

Yes, Publisher has run at a reasonable speed, there is no Wordart in the
file, and Ihave always used Publisher 2002. It seems to act up with this file only... could it be that I cropped a picture in to four seperate pictures? Publisher very slow.....
Hi, Wendy -
How big is the file? Compare its size to some of your other files. ....I've used some tiffs (and even some huge jpegs) and they really bog-down the program. M. Yea, the file is huge compared to others 18572 kb, but it is no different
than others...meaning content...weird. Is there something I can do to shrink the size of the file? Would hiding the pictures help? "Morisot" wrote: Hi, Wendy - How big is the file? Wendy was very recently heard to
utter: Yea, the file is huge compared to others 18572 kb, but it is no different than others...meaning content...weird. Is there something I can do to shrink the size of the file? Would hiding the pictures help? It sounds like you've got very high-resolution pictures in the file. That means Publisher will take longer to redraw them, unless you turn View Pictures to Hide Pictures or Fast Resize and Zoom. -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher |

Publisher very slow.....
Ok, so here is what I did... I deleted the four pictures in Publisher, then I
cropped the four pictures in another program and saved them as four individual pictures. Then I put the four pictures back in my Publisher file and now the size is only 1668kb. Publisher could not handle a big picture file, copied four times and then cropped down to four pictures. Thanks for all your help, I probably wouldn't of figured that out by myself.
