Hi David,
Send me your method...

SnagIt will preserve hyperlinks, you have to do some editing. When converted to
Acrobat PDF the hyperlinks are retained. I don't know about the other PDF
converters.

Still-- your recipients have to have HTML emails enabled.

You should download the SnagIt trial. It is a super program.

Ed,

I think its great that you are posting a method to send a 4 page newsletter
within OE or Outlook instead of as an attachment, since this is a frequent
question. I also think its great that JoAnn has worked so hard on developing
a workaround. However if you and JoAnn are interested (Mary too, if she is
interested), I believe I have worked out a way this can be done more easily
within Publisher, without buying additional software, without converting to
pdf, without reducing the page, text or image sizes, with links surviving
and with an email size no larger than JoAnn's method, and sometimes much
smaller.

If you are interested then I would ask that JoAnn tell me which Publisher
newsletter template she used, and for you both to post an email address
where I can send a sample and the details of how to do it. I realize from
reading a bit on your site, that you are gearing up for exams and more, and
might be too busy to consider this at this time, but if at any time you
would like to learn how to do this, then let me know.

In the short term, I would ask JoAnn to see if SnagIt will "reactivate"
hyperlinks when she uses PrimoPDF. When I use PrimoPDF it kills the links,
but I don't have SnagIt to take it to the next step.

I am using Adobe Reader 6.0, and tried both the full URL and links inserted
the "proper" way for Publisher. None of the links survived the conversion to
PDF using PrimoPDF 2.0. They still show in the blue color and underlined,
but do not work when viewed in the Reader.

I was curious if the links were reactivated somehow when you then used
SnagIt to convert the PDF to an image. I guess I was asking if you need to
use Acrobat or other PDF tools such as Don's that do maintain the link
during the conversion to PDF, because PrimoPDF doesn't seem to work.

Good luck in your exams and enjoy your trip...

If the version of Adobe Reader you are using will reactivate the links

(when
they are posted as URLs rather than as text links), SnagIt should capture

it
from Reader.

Mary,

I will send it along soon...I will appreciate you testing it. I do
understand that your caution about the recipients HTML enabled, and will
discuss that more.

It didn't appear to work with PrimoPDF...

I have been using MWSnap 3.0...a freebie, but might have to try SnagIt.

Stay tuned...DavidF

I just converted a file with a link to my website to PDF using PrimoPDF. The
link was reactivated in the PDF file.

As I understand it, SnagIt will preserve any links it finds when scrolling
through the document.

Good luck in your exams and enjoy your trip...

Thanks! (Although the trip isn't until March 2007)
