Default how do I select all slides and apply random animation?

Probably misunderstood you question. Apology.
Do you mean adding random animation on an object such as title placeholder
so that it applies to every slide? If so, click View Master Slide Master.
Bring up the custom animation (Slide Show Custom Animation).
Click on the object you want to add animation on, then click Add effect
Entrance Random effects. Is that what you want?

Thanks, but no. That guides the transition from slide to slide. It used to
be that you could apply random animation to all the slides, without having to
customize each animation individually. You could select all slides and then
apply random animation to all. Then each one would have different animations.

Click Slide Show Slide Transition.
In the list in "Apply to selected slides", scroll to the bottom for Random
Transition.
Click random transition, then select Apply to All slides. Is that what you
want?

Earlier versions, I used to be able to go to Slide Sorter View, select all,
and apply random animation to all. I can't find a way to do it in PPT 2003.
Thanks.
