Outlook 2000 - Contacts not in Address Book

In Outlook 2000:
My contacts are not showing up in my address book. I can not pick them from the TO: button for e-mail. Three contacts have been added into my personal address book (without my asstance) that do not appear to have anything in common. Most of my contacts have fax numbers and e-mails entered. How do I reconnect the mapping of the contacts to the address book?

I have seen several posts regarding the same issue in for Outlook 2002 but the steps apear to be located in different menus for 2000 vs. 2002.

Do you have Outlook 2000 configured in Internet Mail Only mode or in
Corporate/Workgroup mode? If you're not sure, check the second line of Help

In that case you will need to add the Outlook Address Book service to your
profile in Tools | Services. Instructions can be found at
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/oloab.htm#cw. You should hopefully only
need to follow steps 1 through 3, and not worry about the rest of the
section.

The same feature is available in both versions, you just
get to it a different way. You need to make sure that
your Contacts are set to show as an email address book
for the Outlook Address Book. This is done in the
properties of the Contacts folder.

I went to Slipstick, added Outlook Address Book from Tools | Services and can not check the box for "Show this folder in address book" in File | Folder | Properties.

I also looked in Tools | Services | Addressing, and the only folder that appears in the addressing search path is Personal Folder.

Other suggestions? Please

Right-click the Contacts folder in the Folder List, select Properties, then
the Outlook Address Book tab...the checkbox appears on that tab.

I have a related question. The address book comes up as a master list sorted by first names. Is there a way to sort by category? by last name? by company? If so, how do I set it up? If not, is there a way to creast other address books based upon categories, etc?
