Default keeps changing to R1C1
Every time I open Excel, it puts my reference style as R1C1. I always
uncheck that box under options but it keeps going back to R1C1. I'm getting very frustrated. How can I change it so the default is having that box unchecked?? Thanks. |

Treesy
The first workbook opened sets the reference style. Perhaps your Personal.xls is set and saved to R1C1. It always opens first. Thanks for responding. It must be the 2nd thing because even when I open a
blank workbook, it sets it as R1C1. Also, co-workers will be in a workbook and it isn't set as R1C1 but when I open it, it does. How do I change my personal.xls? Nevermind, I think I fixed it. I just realized that I used a shortcut to
open a blank workbook and I think the shortcut had that setting. I've deleted the shortcut and added a new one, without R1C1 activated. I'm assuming (and hoping) that this solves the issue. Thanks for your help. "Treesy" wrote: Thanks for responding. It must be the 2nd thing because even when I open a blank workbook, it sets it as R1C1. Okay, so the new shortcut didn't solve the problem. What am I doing wrong??
Can you explain how I can update my personal.xls? Thanks!! "Treesy" wrote: Nevermind, I think I fixed it. Assuming your Personal.xls is opening in "hidden" mode.
WindowUnhidePersonal.xls Make changes to ToolsOptionsGeneral then re-hide Personal.xls. Close out Excel. You will be asked to "save changes to Personal.xls". Click "yes". Re-open Excel and a workbook that was saved with R1C1 setting unchecked. What is the RiC1 options setting? Hrm... I don't have anything to "unhide" I don't think I have a
personal.xls. But I think I figured it out, AGAIN. I have other documents that I've worked on in the past and they were saved under R1C1. What I didn't realize this morning was that I had opened one of those files first thing and that changed my settings for all workbooks opened afterwards. So when I run across those older files, I uncheck the R1C1 box and resave the document. So far, so good. Thanks again for the help.
