Default mail merge document doesnot show the updated field for a second

I am doing the mail merging of letters step by step and after saving the
letters when I reopen the individual letters, the fields I have merged in the
letter from excel sheet appears only for a second. After a second only the
placeholders of the merged field remains in the letter and the actual data
does not appears. Please have some solution of this problem

If you are seeing this in the merge document press ALT+F9 to toggle the
display, however if you merge to a new document the field content is
replaced by the data and so the problem should not exist.
