imbedded excel table in word changes formatting

I have an word document with an imbedded excel table. When
the table is edited in excel it looks as it should. when
I go to word, the table is converted to a different font
and all the degree symbols are converted to question
marks. Terribly frustrated with these things.
Autocorrect is doing somthing I think but it doesn't cover
this junk.

There is a Knowledge Base article that discusses similar behavior about Excel formatting (not) coming into Word for a mail merge. The fix is one time and quick and therefore worth trying in an effort to resolve your issue. You may need to re-embed your object but don't go to that trouble until you have tested this first.
