How do I use a percentage formula?

Currently I am working on an assignment and need to turn a whole column
(approx. 153 cells) into a individual percentages of one cell. Every time I
tried to use a formula I either got 0 or DIV#0. I was wondering if there was
a formula I could create on my own so that I can drag thru the entire column.
I even tried to fool around with the '$' in the cells and that was
unsuccessful. I was also wondering if it had to do with the fact the numbers
in the cell also originate from formulas? Thanks

If your numbers are in column A, and your total is at the bottom in A50, in
B1, put:
=a1/a$50
Format as a percentage.
Drag down to B49

I don't think that MeursaultO was meaning what percentage of the total column
each constituent part is.

He asks what percentage of 14,500,698 "in a given cell" each entry is.

The total of the column is not that figure (it's 12,361,285).
I accept that he's given "sample" numbers but he is clear about the given
cell figure.

So, the way I interpret it the solution is;

If data is in col A. Calc is in col B. Given cell is C1 (14500698)

In B1 place =A1/$C$1%

Hi,

You could try this

Type 14500698 in a cell, say M1. In N1, type =$M$1. Copy N1 and go to Edit
Paste Special Divide.
