Default how to assign a default layer to a new master

I've spent ages creating a load of new master shapes in a custom stencil.

Many of them will need to have a specific layer assigned to them.

Two questions, please:

firstly how do I assign a default layer to a master I've created.

secondly (and hopefully) is there a way to do this in a batch rather than
have to do them all individually?

many thanks.

Easy.
Just assign the layer to the Master first using Edit Master.

Since you mentioned "a load of new master shapes", you can write some VBA
code to assign the masters to the new layers.
