Windows is blocking my .mdb file
Hi
I have sent my client a new database as a .mdb file in a zipped file. When she tries to extract it, it does not extract the .mdb file. When trying to drag it across to the destination folder, it flags an error - Windows has blocked this program. Any idea how I can fix this? Stapes |

hi,

This may be either the email client, the explorer when opening a file on a network share or a virus scanner. What error message do you get exactly? mfG -- stefan -- |

Some anti-virus software is a little too intrusive.
Try changing the extension of the file from .mdb to something more innoculous (like .xxx) and tell her to rename it once she's unzipped it. -- Doug Steele, Microsoft Access MVP http://I.Am/DougSteele (no private e-mails, please) "Stapes" wrote in message s.com... Windows is blocking my .mdb file
Hi Stapes,
Here's a thread from the beginning of the year with some useful info: http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...=en-us&m=1&p=1 CW "Stapes" wrote: Hi I have sent my client a new database as a .mdb file in a zipped file. Right-click on the file. Choose properties. At the bottom of the dialog form
you'll see a button to unblock the file. If you don't see it, there may be and "Advanced" button, push than. In either case, you should get to an "Unblock" button that will allow you to open the file. -- Arvin Meyer, MCP, MVP http://www.datastrat.com http://www.mvps.org/access http://www.accessmvp.com "Stapes" wrote in message s.com... This seems to me to be a very incomplete set of instructions, since it doesn't say what environment it begins from. The email client? Windows Explorer? Or??? -- David W. According to the second sentence in the post, the user was probably in
Explorer. "When trying to drag it across to the destination folder, it flags an error - Windows has blocked this program. Any idea how I can fix this?" At least that's the way I understand it. Do you see something I missed? And your answer would be? If you have something to add, please be my guest. -- Arvin Meyer, MCP, MVP http://www.datastrat.com http://www.mvps.org/access http://www.accessmvp.com "David W. Fenton" wrote in message . 1... Or maybe you're still using an older version of Windows.
