Import Address Book from Outlook 2002 to 2007
I realize that part of this problem is not contac related but any and
all help is appreciated I am running Outlook XP (2002) on Windows XP with automatic updates for both Office and XP. I have two problems that I think are probably related. The first problem is that I cannot delete or move any messages and when I try to move or delete a message I get the message "The message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook" Either before or after I got the above message the first time I also got the following message " Unable to load personal free/busy. The XXXXXXXXXOutlook1.pst file has reached its maximum size. Select data you no longer need and "delete them." I am stuck in "no man's land" because the first problem will not let me delete anything and I am not sure if the PST file being full is involved in the first problem. I need to remedy these problems and then I need to also to get the instructions for moving the Address Book from the XP system to my Laptop which is running Vista Premium with Outlook 2007. I want to temporarily run Outlook on my laptop and then have it as a backup for my Outlook functions. |

What a mess. You've posted 10 problems in one post, not one. Start at the
beginning. List the steps you used to corrupt your current Outlook profile. There is far more to this story than you've told. Don't even think of trying to move your Outlook data to another installation until you've cleaned this one up. For future reference there is no Address Book in Outlook. You will need to migrate your entire Outlook data file, which right now appears to be in shambles. Do tell us what you mean by "I want to temporarily run Outlook." Very odd. Sounds like you have even another story to tell. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] wrote in message ... Import Address Book from Outlook 2002 to 2007
Thanks for your replies. What I tried to say was I would like to
cleanup (delete) old email messages etc in my PST file. I cannot delete or move any items in the PST file because every time I try to delete or move a file any where in Outlook it gives me the message "The message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook" So this is what brought my comment I am in no mans land. I am fully aware that all the Outlook info is stored in the PST file, the reason I called it the address book was that what Outlook brings up when I run the cursor over the address book icon. so I am well aware that I need to clean up my PST file but unfortunately I can not do it until I can delete a bunch of stuff, mainly old messages. I was not aware that there limits on PST size so I have kept all messages I have gotten for 5 years either archive or in the deleted folder. I think you answered one of my questions when you said I would have to move my whole PST file to the laptop when all I wanted was to move the "Contact" portion so I could have my email addresses on the laptop. I am using my laptop now for my important emails but with no address book. Thanks for any help you can give. No. To open and clean up your .pst file, you need to run the .pst crop tool
to which I pointed. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. ALWAYS post your Outlook version.
