Office 2010 RTM Reactivation Required in Hyper-V Environment
Hello. I have virtual machines in a Hyper-V environment. I also have a master
virtual hard drive with Office 2010 RTM configured. When I create new virtual machines from this master vhd, Office on the new vm detects "a substantial number of hardware or software components change on a system" and requires reactivation within 3 days. This I understand completely. I also know that each OS and app has different rules about reactivations. I have a TechNet Plus subscription. The FAQs there say: "As subscribers often need to install and reinstall software, we are working to increase activations available for keys, or to enable issuance of additional keys." I have successfully reactivated Office in a new vm based on the master vhd so I know the reactivation process is successful at least once. I plan on creating new virtual machines based on this master vhd, deleting them, create new ones, deleting them, etc. Your typical virtual environment stuff... My question is: Will I be able to create new virtual machines again and again (based on the master vhd) and reactivate Office 2010 (based on the same key) without issue? - ChrisR |

I would pose that question directly to Microsoft via TechNet as the people
here are volunteers and do not work for Microsoft. Any advice given here is not binding on Microsoft. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Thanks Milly. TechNet pointed me to here but taking another look, they are in
the process of converting to forums and this is not one they have gotten to yet. - Chris "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: I would pose that question directly to Microsoft via TechNet as the people here are volunteers and do not work for Microsoft.
