It's Normal.dot, and you'll find it in the folder specified for User
Templates on the File Locations tab of Tools | Options. If you have Windows
XP, this will be a hidden folder, and you must use Tools | Folder Options |
View in Windows Explorer to "Show hidden files and folders" in order to find
or see it.

It depends on which version of Word and which version of Windows you have.
In Word 2002 with Windows XP, the default folder is C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates (this is a hidden
folder). You can use Windows Explorer to search your hard drive for the
NORMAL.DOT template file... remember to include hidden and system files and
folders in the search.
