Default "changes to the global template" in Word

Each time I open a new word document, I get a prompt " Changes will be made
to the global template". How can I turn off this prompt. I do not want to
make changes to the global template.

You cannot turn it off, neither should you try. If the warning occurs on
*opening* a document, it implies that you have orphaned files lying about -
checkout http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm.

The cause of the problem in the first place may be from an errant add-in.
Norton AV's office plug-in and the Works add-in are the worst offenders, but
there are others.

Thanks Graham,

The info on your website appears to be helpful. We do have a few add-in word
templates that we loaded for some specific documents. I will try to search
and remove all orphaned files and hope it works. I will be back here only if
doesn't.
