Zipcode not correct in mail merge
I am using Outlook 2003 with Word 2003 to make a mail merge for envelopes.
All addresses are in the USA. I selected not to include the country field in the address block. The "Unites States of America" appears instead of the zip code in about half the merged addresses. When I check the address detail for these addresses in Outlook they appear perfectly correct with the zipcode in the zipcode field and the country in the country field. The appear to be formatted exctly the same as addresses that are handled correctly. The same thing happens whether I use the Address Block or select individual fields to format the envelop. Obviously Outlook is storing the country into the zipcode field in half the addresses. What am I doing wrong? |

Hard to say since you haven't told us what you are doing.
Post the exact layout of the merge fields you are using to create the address. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Karl Berger" wrote in message ... Zipcode not correct in mail merge
If you look at my original message you will see that I have absoluteley no
difficulty creating and using a mail merge. Your responses have never addressesd my issue which is that the zipcode field of many records contains the country of the addressee. This must be an Outlook problem. It appears that if the zipcode contains a 5+4 zipcode then the mail merge zipcode field will contain the country. If the zipcode is a 5 digit code then the zipcode field is correct. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Select the Contacts to which you want to merge in Outlook. Tools Mail Merge. Zipcode not correct in mail merge
Very strange. That looks exactly right to me and works perfectly here. I
cannot reproduce the behavior you are seeing. Were any of these Contacts ever imported? If you look at a Contact that isn't displaying correctly, are you sure each of the individual address elements is parsed correctly? I suspect something may be wrong with your PST file. Have you checked it for errors? I have seen some instances where having the Country/Region field populated disrupts Word's Insert Address Feature, but I've never seen it disrupt a mail merge from Outlook like this. Maybe someone else has. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Karl Berger" wrote in message ...
