AutoNumber
Hi,
I'm designing a new table to replace an existing table that is populated with data for the current application. The old table uses an AutoNumber for its primary key. I would like the new table to also use an AutoNumber for this key. How can it preserve the existing data in the key field and get the AutoNumber in the new table to continue incrementing after the last number imported from the old table. AutoNumber does not seem to like having any existing numbers. Is there some technique for preserving the existing sequence of numbers and still use AutoNumber in the new table? Thanks, Cindy H. |

You should be able to do this by running an append query to copy the data
into that table, including the autonumber field (use the autonumber field from the original table as the source field), and then the table's autonumber sequence should pick up from the last number in the autonumber field. -- Ken Snell MS ACCESS MVP "Cindy H" wrote in message ...
