Default Access updates all files with the same name in diffrent folders

When I update an access file it also updates the same file name in other
folders that I have to use as a test copy - why - what am I doing wrong - I
cannot just copy the file to another folder to use for testing.

If you open an access database, that file will be updated if you make
changes. Other files in other folders will not be changed.

If you are working with linked tables, then it is possible that you are
linked to the same data and you are updating the tables ina shared file.

When you say, "When I update an access file..." What specifically are you
doing? What kind of UPDATES are you making?
