Strategy for moving from Outlook 2000 to 2003

I am using Outlook 2000 at home, no exchange, just a basic
PIM. I am getting ready for a new PC and Outlook 2003. I
am trying to determine my migration strategy. I beleive
that one of my options is to move my exusting .pst file
over to the new PC and then ask Outlook 2003 to use that
file, but I don't know what, if anything, I give up if I
do that.

With the exception of email (stored in various folders)
and rules, all other data (calendar, tasks, contacts and
journal) reside on a PocketPC so I think one option is to
start fresh and let Active Sync move all that data back.
But then I'll need to (I assume) recreate all the rules
and folders as well as forward all the saved email
messages.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the best path to follow.

The way to transfer your data from one machine to the other is to save your PST(s) and rules and use them on the new machine. You can use the old PST directly with the File Open Outlook data file. Once you have it open, you can tell your new machine to use it as the default on the email accounts dialog.

In OL2000, the mail rules were stored in a *.RWZ file. You can move that file to your new machine then import your rules into OL2003. You will probably have to verify each one.
