I think I should just unistall office xp and try again. I assume that I can
export the calendar and email messages to a file and then import them into a
brand new installation? I bought 2003 teacher student version which requires
xp or 2000 loaded first. I have had both, so I can reload 2000 to a new
directory and then install 2003 on top of it. (2000 was initially loaded on
this computer before I upgraded to xp.) Do you think this will work?

Make sure you have a solidly working installation before you upgrade.
I'm not a big fan of upgrade installations as it is.

This is EXACTLY what I TRY to do. However, I get error messages. My
previous

When you say "valid mail transport", do you mean email servie? If yes,
then
yes I do. The email function works fine. I can send and receive and
compose,
etc. I just have to input the receipent by hand rather than pull it
from
the
contact list. I can go to the contact list, however, and ask Outlook to
send
a message to this person and then compose the email and send it.

I think there is a disconnect somewhere between the contact folder and
the
address book recognized by the email editor.

2 - When I try to access the contct info from "new" to make a

I

8 - If I try to add a new contact folder, it also has the

9 - I "repaired" XP office and this did not solve the problem.

It was different for xp, but I figured it out.

???How can I get my inbox and deleted messages, from the old profile into
the old one? I tried exporting and importing, but lost the date received
field. I would like to keep this field.???

I was able to export and import the contacts OK. I exported and imported the
calendar kinda OK (I lost the reoccuring feature).

I used the comma separated windows option for export/import.

Yes, you can delete the old profile.
Next time you need not import/export the PST file. In fact, you should not.
That's the kind of thing that causes this problem in the first place. You
simply configure the new profile to use your existing PST file.

How do I do that?
And again, thanks for your help!

Yes, you can delete the old profile.
Next time you need not import/export the PST file. In fact, you should not.
That's the kind of thing that causes this problem in the first place. You
simply configure the new profile to use your existing PST file.

Thanks for all your help! I think I finally got it! I exported/imported as
pst files. And the contacts work properly now.
Can I delete the old profile?
Can I now upgrade to 2003?
Again, THANKS!!!!!

I was able to export and import the contacts OK. I exported and imported
the
calendar kinda OK (I lost the reoccuring feature).

I used the comma separated windows option for export/import.

I think I should just unistall office xp and try again. I assume

My

When you say "valid mail transport", do you mean email
servie? If
yes,
then
yes I do. The email function works fine. I can send and
receive
and
compose,
etc. I just have to input the receipent by hand rather
than pull
it
from
the
contact list. I can go to the contact list, however, and
ask
Outlook
to
send
a message to this person and then compose the email and
send it.

I think there is a disconnect somewhere between the
contact
folder
and
the
address book recognized by the email editor.

Outlook 2002:
- Go to Tools Options Mail Setup Data Files Add...
- Add the PST you'd like as your new default, then Close OK to exit the
Options dialog
- Go to Tools E-mail Accounts View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Select the PST you just added in the "Deliver New e-mail to the following
location" dropdown (it will most likely appear just below the current
default Personal Folders file) Finish
- Exit and Restart Outlook
- You can now close the previous default PST (R-click on that pst folder
while in Folder View and select "Close foldername Folders"). If you have
any information in your former PST that you'd like to transfer to your new
default PST, you can drag and drop from one to the other before you close
the old one.
