Default duplicate contacts

I am a refugee from Eudora which I used for 11 years. When I imported my
Eudora nicknames, they came over but with duplications i.e. some names that
were part of a group also were listed separately.

I followed the instructions for duplicate removal but when I removed the
individual listings, the names were also removed from the groups.

Any way to eliminate the individual listings while still keeping the names
in the groups?

You'll have to tell us what you mean by "groups", since Outlook doesn't have a
construct with that name in Contacts. State your Outlook version as well.
