Protecting a sheet or workbook with a pivot table
Hello,
I hope someone can help. I created a simple pivot table on a sheet in a workbook that provides information when a particular city and state is selected. The data for the pivot table is provided on the same sheet as the pivot tabel. Once selected a series of calculations are performed to provide totals in different cell ranges on the same sheet. My problem is I want to protect the sheet so that no changes can be made to the caculations and pivot table but still have access to the city and state selection area. When I protect all of the cells I do not want changes to and unprotect the cells that need data input i get the following message everytime the workbook is opened. "That command cannot be performed while a protected sheet contains another pivot table report based on the same source data" "to remove protection from the sheet that has the other report, click the sheet tab, point to protection on the tools menu & then click unprotect sheet. Then try command again" I do not have another sheet with another report. Any suggestions to get rid of the message box when opening the workbook? Thanks! |

Hi Mandy, Thanks for responding. I have 5 other sheets in the workbook and
none of these sheets have any data related to the pivot table. I have also tried protecting the cells with the "use pivot table" box checked. I also deleted everything on the sheet and started from scratch and I still get this message. Let me ask this. Is there a way I can create a simple drop down list box like I use to do in excel 95 so that when you choose a city/state the value of that item is linked to another cell? I'm having a difficult time trying to perform this in excel xp. "Mandy" wrote: Remove the other sheets, there is something going on.
