Default Files open when starting-How to prevent

When I open Excel I find there are two files already open with the message
"These files are not in a recognisable format"
How do I get rid of them starting?

In Excel, Go to Tools | Options | General | There should be a section towards
the bottom that has an entry - At Startup, open all files in - with a box
following this. If there is anything in there, delete it. If it is blank, then
close this, go to your windows explorer and look for your XLStartup folder.
Delete any files in there except personal.xls

If there are no other files in there, you may have some bad addins

Thanks for your help. Prior to coming on line I did a search for the files
and deleted them
Regards
Blair
