4 months to plan, design and finish DB!
Hello!
I need to enhance an Access 2000 db by Feb 2008. I have a bit of Access development experience but have not used it since 2001. I am looking for help resources such as this forum. In the past, the CServe Developer's Forum was a wealth of information. I notice there is not much activity there now. I do notice that they still advertise their Tues and Thurs live conferences. Does anyone know if the conferences are indeed still going on? Are there conferences on other forums that could be accessed? Are the usual "suspects" from that forum still active in the Access community? This forum seems pretty active, but are there more that are just as active but with different participants? Thank you in advance. I look forward to participating in this forum! ~Sandi Anderson |

This forum is a good resource, but low to moderate in traffic. You'll also
want to hit microsoft.public.access, microsoft.public.access.forms and microsoft.public.access.formscoding as well (there are others that may be helpful as well). -- steve. Hi!
Thank you for your response. Are you aware of online conferences? They were so helpful in the past. How about Mark Liquorman, John Vinson, Ken Sheridan? Do you see those names around much? molsonexpert wrote: This forum is a good resource, but low to moderate in traffic. I'm not aware of any online conferences myself.
As you hang around these newsgroups (as I do) you do recognize the same names popping up regularly. Certainly John Vinson is a regular; the other two sound somewhat familiar. In any case, the regulars/semi-regulars are quite helpful. I'm self taught in all my programming (including Access) and I consider newsgroups to be one of the more reliable and valuable resources. -- steve. I am going to try to pop into the Compuserve forum to see if that conference
is going. It's great because you can bounce things off one another live for a couple of hours. I am self taught as well. Actually, I should say newsgroup taught. I look forward to getting involved again! molsonexpert wrote: I'm not aware of any online conferences myself. I've been around quite a bit, and so has Ken. Mark never seemed to want to make the jump from CompuServe to the newsgroups; I quit Compuserve after the forum interface got AOL'd to distraction. There are no live chats to my knowledge on the Microsoft servers, and I'm actually not interested in devoting time to live chat: it just doesn't work well for me. You might try www.accessmonster.com, www.utteraccess.com or searching Google for online Access/MSOffice chats. Good to see you again! Were you "Sandi" on the CS chats? John W. Vinson [MVP] |

Hi John!
Yes, I was (am) Sandi from the CS Chats. I am so glad to have found you! So, are you saying the CServe conferences no more? What do you have going on these days? John W. I'm doing consulting on my own, helping my wife run Pollinator Paradise (gourmet natural produce and pollination consulting), and answering questions here on the newsgroups. It's a nice life. I haven't logged on to CompuServe in over a year so I have no idea what's going on there. You could post a message in the forum and ask - they must still have a sysop, probably Mark. John W.
