recover deleted mail items
I have configured our Exchange 2003 to retain deleted items for 7 days and
only permanently delete items should an Exchange backup have been actioned. deleting an item and subsequently emptying the deleted items folder results in the item being visable in the Recover Deleted items option BUT subsequently selecting it and choosing Recover item does not restore the item to the deleted items folder BUT does result in the item no longer being available in the Recover Deleted items list?? I have also tried the "DumpsterAlwaysOn" registry key enabling recovery of deleted items on other folders i.e. Inbox and the same results are found for HArd Deleted items. Help please |

Sorry this is not about restoring mail @ the server but an Outlook client
Recovering Deleted Mail items using Outlook. Exchange Server configured to retain deleted mail items and Outlook's Tools Recover Deleted Items shows available items for recovery but selecting items and actioning a recovery does not recover items to deleted mail folder BUT does result in the items not being availble in the Tools Recover Deleted Items list of items? The "Recovered" item simply disappears. Using the "DumpsterAlwaysOn" registry key which enables recovery of hard deleted items from other folders has the same results when recovering items. Exchange 2003/Windows 2003/Office 2003 environment. Any suggestions? May be relevant:
Deleted Items Folder Properties, Synchronization - Statistics show incrementing items count for server every time a recovery is attempted but offline count remains at zero. No amout of "Send All" resolves this and I am working online otherwise I would not see the Server Statistics! JUST MANAGED TO RESOLVE ISSUE.
Removing the Used Cached Exchange Mode option and exiting and restarting Outlook results in the recovered deleted items being available in the deleted items folder. Looks like a synchronisation issue with Outlook cached mode? No amout of F9/Send Receive ALL or Just this folder(ensuring Deleted Items
folder was including in send/receive group), exiting Outlook and restarting would work. Have you other methods to force a sync? Sync tab on properties for deleted items was reporting items on server but zero in cache offline and nothing seemed to bring the two in sync!
