Default Missing field in data source

My Word template, created without knowing the data source, has fields that are not in the datasource selected at merge time. Is there any way to suppress the {Error! MergeField was not found in header record of data source} message shown in that field location without having to delete the template field?
Thanks

Hi =?Utf-8?B?QUdJ?=,

No, there is not. The "orphaned" fields would need to be deleted before the merge is executed.
