Default What is 'MSado26.tlb version 2.6?"

Database name database contains a missing broken reference to the file
'MSado26tlb version 2.6"
I assume this is really msado26.tlb (note the dot). The error message was
sent to me by the user.

I get this error when I try to run an Access application on a different
computer from the one where it was created and a second one where it is
copied to routinely and runs fine. The two user computers have the same
release of Access. (2000 9.0.6926 SP 3). Where does the .tlb file come
from? Can I install it? Why didn't it get installed with Access?

That is the type library for ADO 2.6. It may have been replaced on the
user's computer with ADO 2.8, although both are usually present after the
upgrade. For more information on fixing broken references, see this link:

You may also need to download and install the current MDAC files.

Thanks very much. Two more questions.

1 - Is it necessary/possible to register a .tlb file? There is an example
of registering for a .dll file.

2 - I'm a little confused by what I see in the list for MDAC 2.6. Do I
install the last one in the list, "MDAC 2.6 - Correct Unchecked Buffer in
SQL 2000 Openrowset" and then each one in sequence above that? Or can I
install that and then skip to the 3rd from last (SP1) and then to the top
(SP2)? I guess I'm asking if the files are cumulative.

Try installing the top one, MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2. If the type library
(tlb) needs to be registered, this should do it. As far as I know, you can
only register dll and ocx files using Regsvr32.
