Default "You have not entered a valid Product Key"

I have just installed Office Pro 2003 (almost). During
the install process it asked for a Product Key. I
entered the one from sticker inside the CD case and then
proceeded to completion of install. Next, tried to open
each of the applications such as Word, Excel,Power Point,
etc. Each one of these applications asks for a Product
Key. Will not accept the product key from the sticker
inside box. Why are they asking for key, and how can I
find what the key is? Note, the applications won't open
without the key, so cannot use the Help menu as described
on the support site.
