Default at Start Up is Messed Up
I am using Word 2003. When I start up Word it shows a new blank document at
55% and the first line right at the very top edge of the page even though the Page Setup has a 1" margin (as viewed in Print Layout). Also it shows the paper size to be 7" wide by 9" tall. I renamed my normal.dot file to something else, restarted Word and it's still messed up. Any idea how I can get Word back to its installed defaults and eliminate this problem? Thanks. Roger |

This is a known bug. Change the zoom to 500% and then back.

Stefan,
That fixed it, thanks so much for your help with this. I was afraid I might need to reinstall Word. I really appreciate your help with this. Roger "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... You are welcome. Note also that reinstalling usually *doesn't* help in
these situations, since it won't delete the relevant registry keys. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Roger Tregelles" wrote in message ... Actually, any change in zoom "fixes" the problem--even going from 100 to
101% (no need to go back to 100%). Mercifully, I've yet to run into this problem in Word 2007. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP http://www.herbtyson.com Author of the Word 2007 Bible Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. However, assuming that the OP is happy with the current zoom level, "going back" makes sense... :-) Mercifully, I've yet to run into this problem in Word 2007. FWIW, I've seen it on a few occasions, most often, it seems, in text lines that have direct formatting. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP -- Herb Tyson MS MVP http://www.herbtyson.com Author of the Word 2007 Bible Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along.
