Movie clips in powerpoint -- HOW ??
Never done this B4 so I am quite a dummy when it comes to video files in
PPT. I have shot about 25secs of video with the digital camera, dropped it onto the computer which has saved it automatically as an .AVI file. If I go to PPT and Insert, Movies and Sounds, Movie from file, and choose the saved AVI file (which is in the same directory) nothing seems to happen. If I Insert, Object, Video clip, and then choose the file from the dropdown, I get this message...Video not available, cannot find " vids:mjpg" decompressor. I have spent ages reading Austin Meyers article on PPT FAQ which was very interesting and did refer to AVI files... but I am afraid I am still lost and none the wiser. Seeing you all were so kind and understanding of my ignorance a couple of days ago with another problem, I figured I would shout again... HELP !!! Tnx Rob |

Try renaming the file giving it an extension of .MPG and then use Insert
Movies and Sounds Movie from File. Let us know if that works. If it doesn't you'll need to compare the MCI settings on your system to the ones listed in section 3 of the tutorial at http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorial...multimedia.htm -- Sonia Coleman Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Team Autorun Software, Templates and Tutorials "Rob" wrote in message ... Sonia,
I have done what you suggest and while it will insert the video, I assume it does as I see a frame on the slide with the first frame of the clip displayed, however it does not play when I go to the slide in slide show, even the first frame disappears that was there. It does work provided I use, Insert, Object, Video clip, and then choose Insert clip, Video for windows and choose the file. Provided I keep this clip in the same directory, will this work in a pack and go, or more importantly with the PowerPoint security pack. Thank you again Rob "Sonia" wrote in message ... It will not work with the PowerPoint Viewer. So, the answer to your question
depends on whether the end user has PowerPoint installed on their system and whether you are setting up your presentation to run in PowerPoint or the Viewer. "Rob" wrote in message ...
