Publisher Error
"When trying to import an Excel file into Publisher in a mail merge operation
- I get the following error: "This operation cannot be completed because of dialog or database engine failures. Please try again later". The question was answered on 5/17 by referring to a Blog that is no longer operating. Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks -- wwrig |

Go to www.microsoft.com/data and download and install the latest MDAC
Components and re-boot. If that does not work, do a SAVE AS in Excel to CSV (Comma Separated Values) and use that file for the merge. |

Thanks - however, I tried the .csv part already with the same result. I am
using Publisher 2002 and I received the MS SP2 upgrade this weekend (when this function stopped working) - could there be a relationship? I installed MDAC 2.6 for SP2, not sure how to tell which is the "latest" for my version of software. Not well spelled out on the site, but am having the same result. Any other ideas? Thanks Wayne "°°MS-Publisher°°" wrote: Go to www.microsoft.com/data and download and install the latest MDAC Components and re-boot. This article addresses Publisher 2002, although it refers to Outlook as the data the issue is the same. In addition to what others have said, there is an SP3 update available for
Publisher 2002 as well. And the latest MDAC is 2.8: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Publisher MVP http://www.publishermvps.com ~pay it forward~ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Thanks everyone. I took the initial advice and installed MDAC 2.8. That has
resolved the issue. Brian, I will also look at installing SP3 for Publisher as well.
