Default Set the number of line characters in Outlook (Plain Text)?

I need to set the line characters in Outlook so they don't look awkward when
emails I send are received. I assume 68 characters may be a good length, but
I have been unable to locate where to make adjustments.

You didn't specify your Outlook version. In Outlook 2003 and earlier, using
the built-in Outlook editor for message composition, click ToolsOptionsMail
FormatInternet Format and adust there. Note this affects Plain Text messages
only.
